02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our charity was set up to raise funds to purchase Kirkmaiden Old Kirk from the Church of Scotland as they are disposing of excess buildings. The Old Kirk is a church of great historical value to our community and we do not want to lose it for future generations.

  • the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended

Constitutional objectives

The Organisation has been formed to benefit the communities of Drummore, Portlogan and surrounding areas. Also all those who have a vested interest in the future of the Old Kirk because of family history and the preservation of the history of Kirk Covenant Church ,1637, for future generations. ('the Community'), with the following purposes ('the Purposes'): ('the Community'), with the Purposes listed in the sub-clauses hereto ('the Purposes'), to be exercised following the principles of sustainable development (where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs), namely: 4.1 The advancement of education 4.2 The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science 4.3 The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities
