02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Lochview Rural Training is a Scottish charity based in the rural Highlands, established to improve opportunities, inclusion, health and wellbeing through practical, land-based and outdoor learning. We support children, young people and adults, particularly those who experience barriers to education, training and employment, social isolation or challenges affecting their wellbeing. Working from our croft in Sutherland, we deliver inclusive activities including rural skills training, animal care, horticulture and food growing, conservation, heritage skills and outdoor education. Our programmes include accredited learning, youth and family activities, adult wellbeing groups and tailored one-to-one support. Through hands-on experiences, people build confidence, develop practical and life skills, improve health and wellbeing, achieve qualifications and progress towards further education, training or employment. We also work collaboratively with local organisations and communities.
