02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
As of now - end June 2026 - the planning permission has been granted, the CAT completed, sale of the former maternity unit to Hanover Scotland completed and the project Design Team has been appointed. The Trustees of Leanchoil are working hard to deliver on our promises to bring Leanchoil back to the community as a vibrant, engaged and self-sustaining centre to improve local health and wellbeing.

Constitutional objectives
4 The Leanchoil Trust has been formed to benefit the people living in the greater Forres area covered by the Forres Academy catchment area, which comprises the postcode units set out in appendix 1, ('the Community'), with the following objects: (1) To advance health and well-being through activities including mental health support, support for young people, veterans? activities, intergenerational activities, online health consultations, digital health, secondary care, complementary therapies and supported housing. (2) To advance community development by acquiring, refurbishing and sustainably maintaining the Leanchoil Hospital, grounds and woodland as an asset for the community. (3) To advance citizenship through the promotion of volunteering and working in partnership with the voluntary and public sectors in the delivery of health and well-being services. (4) To advance the heritage of Leanchoil Hospital, by promoting its historic significance and educating the general public about its heritage through interpretation and community engagement
