02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Heids and Herts Scotland was established to harness the transformative power of arts and culture to strengthen communities, improve wellbeing, and foster a sense of belonging. We work to widen access to creative opportunities, ensuring they are inclusive, community-led, and rooted in local identity. By supporting people to actively participate in shaping their own cultural experiences, we promote social cohesion, build social capital, and empower communities to connect and thrive. In response to rising loneliness and isolation across North East Fife and the East Neuk, our work creates welcoming spaces where people can come together, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships through creativity. We believe the arts are a powerful tool for breaking down barriers, reducing stigma, and supporting mental health. By working alongside community builders, we enable lasting connections and more resilient, vibrant communities.
