02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
SCMP is a professional membership organisation to promote culture and education in the healthcare sector. The Charty’s objects are: (a) to advance education in the field of medical training and the healthcare system in China and the UK. and (b) to promote culture through the understanding of cultural differences between China and the UK, in particular in relation to the healthcare sector. In pursuance of the objects listed above, the company shall have the following activities: (a) To organise and run educational and cultural events, courses, seminars and other activities. (b) To establish links between medical professionals within and out with the UK through visiting or exchange programmes. (c) To provide advice, support and mentoring to medical professionals and students. (d) To provide humanitarian support and advice to the public and to organisations in the UK and internationally. (e) To carry on any other activities which further any of the above objects.

Constitutional objectives
Objects 4 The company's objects are: (a) the advancement of education in the field of medical training and the healthcare system in China, UK and globally. (b) the promotion of culture through the understanding of cultural differences between China, UK and globally, in particular in relation to the healthcare sector. (c) the advancement of health in general, and in particular, through (i) the provision of additional training and networking opportunities for healthcare professionals and those seeking to enter the healthcare profession. and (ii) the increasing of awareness within the public of healthcare matters. and (d) the relief of those in need through the provision of humanitarian support and advice to the public, relevant healthcare facilities/authorities and charitable bodies. 5 The company's objects are restricted to those set out in article 4 (but subject to article 6). 6 The company may (subject to first obtaining the consent of OSCR) add to, remove or alter the statement of the company's objects in article 4. on any occasion when it does so, it must give notice to the registrar of companies and the amendment will not be effective until that notice is registered on the register of companies.
