02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The ongoing and overall objective of the Trust is the provision of support for photographers and filmmakers working in advocacy, journalism and social-documentary fields in Myanmar. A number of organisations and individuals working with similar mandates to that of the Trust exist in-country and require support with fundraising, administration of grants and fiduciary partnerships. At this time, provision of fiscal support for these existing groups remains the primary role of the Trust.

Constitutional objectives

Trust purposes 1. The Trustees shall hold and apply the sum of £1 paid by us to them, and such other funds and assets as may from time to time be comprised in the Trust Property, in trust for the following purposes:- (a) The advancement of education in the fields of documentary photography and documentary filmmaking through the provision of educational instruction and resources, with particular reference to the advancement of education through the provision of educational instruction and resources in the fields of documentary photography and documentary filmmaking in Myanmar (Burma). (b) The advancement of human rights and social development through the provision of support for photographers and filmmakers working in advocacy, journalism and social-documentary fields, with particular reference to photographers and filmmakers working in advocacy, journalism and social-documentary fields in Myanmar (Burma). 2. The expenses of creating and administering the Trust, and any tax payable in relation to the Trust, shall be met in priority to all other payments and transfers of assets out of the Trust Property.
