02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Create the advancement of citizenship and community development, develop a range of opportunities such as employment, training and learning as well as leisure and social activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities and activities are primarily intended. The advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation. The relief of those in need by reason of age ill-health, disability, financial hardship of other disadvantage. These aims are achieved through the work of our social groups every Thursday and Friday and pub group on Wednesday evenings, Accessible bike sessions twice a week, Let's Eat Tuesdays training in a restaurant every week.

Constitutional objectives

4 Wigtownshire Stuff has been formed to benefit the community of younger adults with support needs across Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway. Younger adults will predominately consist of individuals from 16 up to their early 30s. There maybe be some exceptional situations where individuals out with these age ranges would also be considered. These support needs will include, but not be limited to, younger adults with Learning Disabilities, Learning Difficulties, Physical Disabilities, Autistic individuals including people with Asperger’s, individuals with ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Individuals with visual impairments, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, individuals with Acquired Brain Injury, people with Mental Health Issues and Individuals Leaving Care, 4.1 Wigtownshire Stuff’s purpose is to develop a range of opportunities with and for the younger adults in areas such as employment, both paid and voluntary, training and learning, leisure and social activities. 4.2 Wigtownshire Stuff, in promoting real opportunities for young adults with support needs across Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, will seek the advancement of citizenship and of community development. 4.3 Wigtownshire Stuff has, as a core purpose, the relief of those in need by reason of age, illhealth, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. 4.4 Wigtownshire Stuff, by developing real opportunities for all, seek to promote equality and diversity in the region. 4.5 Wigtownshire Stuff, in promoting real opportunities for all, seeks the advancement of human rights in line with the Scottish Governments commitment to human rights for all its citizens.
