02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
West Lothian 50+ Network supports people aged 50 and over across West Lothian to remain active, socially connected and involved in their communities, helping to reduce loneliness and isolation and improve wellbeing. We do this through a wide range of member-led activity and interest groups, social and wellbeing activities, meetings, events, day trips, holidays and opportunities to volunteer. We operate a Members' Hub in Bathgate which provides a welcoming and accessible place for members to meet, access information and take part in activities. We also work with local organisations, public services and community partners to improve opportunities and support for older people across West Lothian.

Constitutional objectives
The Organisation’s charitable purposes for the public benefit are: (i) To combat social isolation by providing activities to encourage companionship in people over the age of fifty in West Lothian. (ii) To promote and enhance the physical, emotional and mental well-being of this group of people by providing social, educational and recreational activities. (iii) To provide these activities in a way that facilitates wide-spread take-up in towns and villages across the West Lothian area. (iv) To co-operate with other relevant bodies, agencies and organisations for the advancement of social welfare of the 50 plus age group. (v) To encourage the development of links between relevant organisations to share best practice, learn from others and maximise take-up of local support for the elderly in West Lothian.
