02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our vision is that our children and young people with additional support needs will achieve their fullest potential and become valued members of their local community. 1. To achieve this, we will find and develop a community-based facility that will offer services and support to families/carers and provide a wide range of personal and social development opportunities for our children and young people. 2. Our family centre will be recognised for its vibrancy, its welcoming atmosphere and its inclusive approach. 3. Providing dedicated spaces for art and music, sensory experiences, clubs and recreation (both indoors and outdoors), our centre will be a joyful and safe place that will be acclaimed for its person-centred approach and its commitment to lifelong learning and development. 4. Constitutional objectives
4 The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, primarily the benefit of parents, siblings and children with special needs: 4.1 To provide recreational activities that will improve the conditions of life for children with special needs. 4.2 To support and provide opportunities to SNAPS members living within North Lanarkshire by providing educational opportunities that will develop their physical, emotional and educational capacities as individuals 4.3 To engage in activities which support and advance the rights and welfare of SNAPS NL members living within North Lanarkshire 4.4 To encourage and facilitate participation in learning 4.5 Promote such other charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined 4.6 To work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary organisations working with SNAPS NL 4.7 To advocate for the rights of SNAPS NL members and their families. 4.8 To advance citizenship to ensure they can participate in civic life in their communities. 4.9 The advancement of peer education through the organisation of relevant classes, training presentations and awareness raising sessions.
