02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our mission is to: * Promote unity and cooperation among Ghanaians in the West of Scotland * Provide welfare and support to members during significant life events * Preserve and promote Ghanaian culture and traditions * Encourage community participation and social integration Support charitable and community development initiatives We provide practical and emotional support to members during important times in their lives, including times of difficulty or need. We also work to preserve and celebrate Ghanaian culture and traditions while helping members feel connected and involved in wider Scottish society. Through community activities, social events, welfare support and partnerships, we encourage people to take part, support one another and contribute positively to the community. We also support charitable and community development initiatives that improve the wellbeing of Ghanaians and the wider community in the West of Scotland.

Constitutional objectives

The objectives of the Association shall be: . The advancement of the art, heritage and culture of Ghana in Scotland, amongst both Ghanaians living in Scotland and the Scottish people, through the organisation and promotion of various events for this purpose. 'The promotion of citizenship amongst Ghanaians living in Scotland through the provision of support and training aimed at increasing their employability opportunities, as well as their knowledge of the Scottish Legal System. . The relief of poverty amongst Ghanaians living in Scotland who are in financial difficulty or any other disadvantage, by reason of age, ill-health or disability through the provision of financial support. .The promotion of racial harmony in Scotland between both Ghanaians living in Scotland and the people within their adopted communities through the provision of structures intended to encourage dialogue and integration between the two groups.
