02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity advances the Sikh religion by celebrating major Sikh festivals, promoting Sikh literature through a library, and offering Punjabi and Gurmukhi classes to support reading, writing, and understanding Sikh scripture. It provides a recreational and spiritual hub through the Aberdeen Gurudwara, encourages environmental harmony, and supports growing local produce for Langar and community planting. The Gurudwara has been fully operational since 2021, serving the community’s spiritual and physical needs. A Head Priest, appointed in January 2022, delivers lectures and leads educational classes on Sikh teachings. The charity also hosts an annual function to engage and introduce its work to the wider community.
