02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Friends of Ganavan aims to preserve, conserve and sustain the natural environment of the green space at Ganavan. We campaign online on Facebook and in person with groups and Oban Community Council to help keep Ganavan as it is for the community of Oban and area as well as visitors. Ganavan green space surrounds Oban's only beach and the area is vitally important for physical and mental health and wellbeing for all ages and stages.

Constitutional objectives
4 The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The preservation, conservation and sustainability of the natural environment of the green spaces in the area known as Ganavan. Also, the conservation of the wildlife in the general area which includes the many varieties of species and their natural habitat within the area of Ganavan. 4.2 To better connect the people of Oban and Lorn with nature and to encourage a more environmentally conscious and sustainable lifestyle. 4.3 To prevent isolation and encourage improved mental and physical health by promoting access to open spaces for exercise, relaxation, sport, family activities.
