02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity was created in May 2022. A group of local Broomhouse residents volunteered to create a new group to manage the local Hall which was under threat from closure due to the collapse of the previous Hall committee. However, when applying for the licence to manage the Hall, it became apparent that a rival bid had been submitted by a local private nursery business who were granted the Licence by Glasgow City Council to operate the Hall and have done so ever since. Instead, the Charity have provided activities at the Hall inkeeping with our purpose to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Broomhouse. Broomhouse Community Hall SCIO helps local residents of all ages and backgrounds by providing a range of community events for everyone to enjoy.
