02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To provide free support, information and a safe space, online and in person, for young people aged 25 and under who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning, Queer, Intersex, Asexual+ (LGBTQIA+), or young people who are questioning their sexuality/gender, or have friends or family members who are LGBTQIA+. We also obtain help and support, where needed, from agencies who are sympathetic to our stated aims. Another focus is to raise awareness of the general public and professional bodies about the needs and issues of LGBTQIA+ young people and to encourage their support and understanding.

Constitutional objectives
4 The organisation’s purposes are: to provide free support, advice, information and a safe space for young people aged 25 and under who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning, Queer, Intersex, Asexual + (LGBTQIA+), or young people who are questioning their sexuality/ gender, or have friends or family members who are LGBTQIA+, and in furtherance thereof: i.To obtain help and support, where needed, from such agencies as are sympathetic to the stated aims. ii.To raise money for the purposes of Under One Rainbow and to accept donations and legacies. iii.To encourage research into the needs and issues of LGBTQIA+ young people, providing such research is compatible with the other aims of the organisation. iv.To keep statistics and basic records that will aid that research. v.To raise awareness of the general public and professional bodies about the needs and issues of LGBTQIA+ young people and to encourage their support and understanding. vi.To establish links with any charitable group whose purposes are in keeping with the aims of Under One Rainbow. vii.To provide education programmes and resources to raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues. viii.To provide training for those working with LGBTQIA+ young people, and thereby work towards the eradication of homophobia/transphobia/biphobia and violence towards young LGBTQIA+ young people. ix.To provide a safe online space for information and support 4.1 To advance education for young LGBTQIA+ people, and/or young people who are questioning their sexuality/gender or have friends or family members who are LGBTQIA+, by providing educational resources and training in relation to LGBTQIA+ issues. 4.2 To promote equality and diversity by raising awareness of discrimination to help ensure that LGBTQIA+ young people are valued and have access to all opportunities.
