02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Dundee Youth Music Theatre is set up to advance the arts, in particular music and musical theatre, by providing young people with opportunities to participate in high-quality, accessible performance activities. The charity aims to build confidence, creativity, teamwork and performance skills in children and young people, regardless of background or ability. The charity delivers its purposes by organising musical theatre productions, rehearsals, workshops and performances, engaging professional tutors and creative practitioners to support participants. Activities include regular rehearsals, staged productions, and intensive projects such as summer schools. Performances are presented to the public, increasing access to the arts within the local community. The charity also works to keep participation affordable through fundraising and grant funding.

5.1 The organisation is established for Charitable Purposes only, and in particular, the charitable purposes are: 5.1.1 To advance the arts and culture, with particular reference to the performing arts for young people aged 5-25. 5.1.2 To advance education, particularly among young people between the ages of 5-25, with particular focus on using drama and musical theatre as a vehicle for learning. 5.1.3 To provide recreational facilities and to organise recreational activities to , available to young people aged 5-25, with the object of improving their conditions of life.
