02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Social Flock is a community, clothing and climate charity which aims to mitigate the impact of poverty, and encourage clothing reuse and redistribution, through the provision of free, mainly preloved clothing to Perthshire families. We collect clothing donations from the public and, with the help of our brilliant volunteers, mend, wash and sort these donations to ensure they can be passed on to others. Social Flock has three main projects - School Uniform Bank, Winter Warmer and Clothing Library - which are delivered alongside smaller projects that aim to build community, teach mending and clothing repair skills and inspire creativity while also teaching people about the impact of fast fashion. In addition to providing clothing to Perthshire families, we run workshops and deliver awareness raising sessions to build community knowledge of the impact of clothing poverty, the need for circularity in our economy and both the people and environmental impact of fast fashion choices.
