02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Maxwell Quartet Music is dedicated to widening access to high-quality classical music, ensuring that people of all ages and backgrounds can experience the joy, connection, and creativity that live performance brings. At its heart, the charity exists to break down barriers—geographical, financial, and cultural—by taking world-class string quartet music beyond traditional concert halls and into locations where opportunities for live arts engagement are limited. We do this through a blend of outreach programmes, educational workshops, and community-led performances designed to inspire curiosity and confidence in music-making. The Quartet works collaboratively with local partners to tailor each project to the needs of the community. By combining artistic excellence with a deeply human, inclusive approach, Maxwell Quartet Music creates meaningful musical experiences that enrich lives and strengthen communities.
