02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Inverkeithing Town House exists to offer meeting space for all types groups in Inverkeithing and environs. The charity also exists to support local groups space to meet by offering reduced fees for use of the building allowing very small groups to meet and grow their membership, moving towards sustainability. By supporting local groups people living in the area can access services, and can improve their lives through interaction with others, learning new skills and improving mental health caused through loneliness or isolation. As an historic building the Town House will improve opportunities for learning about the history of the local area through interpretation board and artefacts.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are: To advance citizenship, community development and volunteering within and for the benefit of the community of Inverkeithing by delivering a diverse variety of services and initiatives without distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinion, with the object of improving their conditions of life, through volunteer led centre management, service delivery, fundraising and awareness raising. To provide recreational facilities and organise recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the people of Inverkeithing including delivering services directly and letting space to agencies who will offer community benefit. To facilitate the delivery of preventative health services to all the inhabitants of Inverkeithing and its environs by providing direct services such as the promotion of physical exercise and letting space to statutory and community based health service providers. To advance education and learning by providing or facilitating workshops, training sessions and courses including heritage, arts and creativity and community development. To advance the arts, culture and heritage by delivering events and other initiatives such as exhibitions, workshops, meetings and the development of a local archive.
