02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The CCA is a charity that exists to support our community. Working to support and empower the people who live here to build our community and sharing local news and information through the 'Chapelton Chat'. Supporting residents to organise and run community groups such as the over 60s club and crochet club as well as community events like the christmas light switch on, book swap hut and kindness cards. We have provided a programme of well-being events such as yoga in the park and wellness workshops with local wellness practitioners.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are: (i) the advancement of citizenship or community development. (ii) the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. (iii) the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. (iv) the saving of lives. In furtherance of these purposes the organisation will: (i) Carry out fundraising activities and organising community events. Prevent individuals in our community from becoming socially excluded by organising community events as well as supporting the creation and ongoing costs of groups such as baby and toddler group. Which will assist people to live more fulfilled lives by encouraging social inclusion. (ii) Arrange community events that promote health and wellbeing along with improving the conditions of life of the community through social interaction and leisure time activities. (iii) Organise litter picks to improve the environment for people and animals (iv) Contribute to the provision of Defibrillators in the local area and facilitate training in their use.
