02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Edinburgh Peace Institute was set up to initially register as an NGO in the Israel-Palestine Territories to assist human needs. It remains our goal, to implement a three phase engagement on completion of NGO registration in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, consisting of 1. Training, 2. Research and policy research development on human needs, and 3. advocacy-mediation, of human needs, for conflict societies, and to support humanitarian agencies. This can only occur, once NGO status has been achieved, and there is currently great difficulty in achieving this in the region at this time. It is hoped the finalisation of NGO registration will be complete in June 2026, based on talks, however, the situation in the region is volatile, with continually changing policies towards NGOs, making it difficult to predict.
