02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Part of Dunvegan Community Trust SCIO's activities are to receive and distribute Community Benefits from a local windfarm. We have a website through which groups and, in some circumstances, individuals can apply for funds via application forms, and we also supply and accept hard copy applications. We also run projects ourselves for the benefit of our defined community, and we have several projects at various development stage. As of the end of the financial year, we had committed to a project to purchase equipment to redevelop our local park, as well as to purchase a disused building to develop into a community hub, which will eventually house a gym, commercial spaces for small businesses to rent, multi use community workshops and a tool library, and a childcare facility. At the end of the financial year we took over the management of a community minibus, so the valuable service can be maintained.
