02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We tackle poverty and disadvantage. We help people facing financial hardship, unemployment, or other barriers to opportunity. We advance education and develop communities. We build citizenship and champion equality and diversity. We operate through membership-based governance. Members shape our direction and elect trustees who manage our activities. We create pathways from disadvantage to opportunity. This includes education, community development, and promoting equal access. We work with corporate partners who engage in social responsibility. We connect business capability with community need. Our structure enables a flexible response to emerging challenges. Trustees manage finances and operations. Members ensure we stay true to our purposes. We focus on sustainable change. Rather than temporary relief, we build capacity for lasting improvement in people's circumstances. We measure success by reduced barriers, increased opportunities, and stronger communities.
