What the charity exists to do

The charity was established primarily to support and promote the arts in Scotland, We encourage artists to challenge stereotypes. We push literary boundaries by offering cash prizes for short stories, flash fiction, novels and essays. We create opportunities for young musicians to create new audiences. We aim to provoke, surprise and engage audiences. Our activities include running competitions for short stories, flash fiction, essays and novels, Scottish portraits and Scottish landscapes. Our initiatives include awards, exhibitions in public galleries, performances and publications in the visual and literary arts as well as contemporary music and opportunities for young musicians. Our work promotes new and established artists and musicians based or born in Scotland. We publish an anthology of a selection of writing from competition entries from worldwide authors. We award bursaries to writers and artists to gain free entry to these competitions.
