02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Dumfries Cricket Trust has been established to increase participation in the sport of Cricket within the Dumfries Burgh and wider Dumfries and Galloway region. Cricket has been part of the local community since 1853. The Dumfries Cricket Trust has been established to ensure that the Sport of Cricket continues to deliver benefits to the physical and social wellbeing of the communities in the Dumfries Burgh. There are a number of community development programmes involving cricket operating across the UK, the charity aims to access these programmes to grow community cohesion, improve social and personal skills, develop leadership, communication and self esteem of both young and old who participate.
