02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Newark Trust is a grant-making charity set up to fight hardship and disadvantage in Inverclyde. Financial grants are provided to charities and constituted constituted groups which work in Inverclyde and provide services and support under three priority areas: (1) Fighting Child Poverty, (2) Supporting Children and Young People with Additional Support Needs (3) Community Support. The Newark Trust works proactively through relationships and local networks to identify and select projects and organisations to support. Our vision is to improve the lives, health and welfare of people in Inverclyde, creating opportunities for a positive future.

4 The organisation's purpose are: 4.1 to provide relief for those in need and who presently live in or are coming to live in Port Glasgow or the wider Inverclyde area. The needs may be by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage (including relief given by the provision of accommodation or care). and will include the provision of temporary accommodation for refugees. and 4.2 the advancement of citizenship or community development.
