What the charity exists to do
The Bangla Centre SCIO exists to improve the quality of life of the local community, particularly those of Bangladeshi heritage, while fostering inclusivity and cross-cultural exchange. Community Engagement & Cultural Integration • Organising cultural events, festivals, and activities to celebrate Bangladeshi heritage and encourage cross-cultural understanding. Sports, Health & Wellbeing • Providing access to sports facilities, fitness classes, and recreational activities to promote healthy lifestyles. Education & Skills Development • Offering language classes, IT training, and employability workshops to improve skills and opportunities, Supporting young people through tutoring, mentoring and extracurricular activities. Environment & Sustainability • Promoting eco-friendly practices within the community. Community Support Services • Providing advice and guidance on housing, welfare and immigration support where possible. Volunteer Development • Creating volunteering opportunities

Constitutional objectives
4.1 Advancement of Education by developing and providing a flexible range of informal community education and training services, supporting and managing the Community School, operating at weekend, named ?Bangla School? to provide the children, young people and adults the unique opportunity to learn and maintain proficiency in Bengali language education, and familiarize the richness of Bangladeshi culture, life-style and tradition. 4.2 Advancement of the Bengali Arts and Culture by organising workshops and cultural programmes, and occasional special events - traditional, historic, annual - as celebrated by the Bangladeshis and other Minority Ethnic Communities, by engaging both professional and non-professional artists to perform at venues, and work with local communities towards the dissemination of the rich attributes among the indigenous Scots through easily understandable performances in dance, short plays, drama, songs and music. 2 4.3 Strengthening of the Provision of Recreational Facilities and the organisation of recreational activities offering local communities new opportunities to participate in leisure, sport and social activities, by organising year-round various sports and leisure events - football, badminton and cricket tournaments, etc. involving both Bangladeshi and other local communities (especially BME). 4.4 Advancement of Citizenship and Community Development through efforts to focus civic pride and develop the capacity of local communities via volunteering, learning and community-based civic empowerment activities. 4.5 Advancement of Environmental Protection particularly through the organisation of activities to preserve our beautiful green sites and spaces in areas of Greater Glasgow - the West of Scotland, lower carbon emissions and make prudent use of resources.
