02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Bishopbriggs Outdoor Spaces is a community-led charity established to protect, improve and promote access to outdoor spaces and green infrastructure across Bishopbriggs and Auchinairn. We work to enhance local parks, paths, woodlands and open spaces, helping residents of all ages enjoy safe, accessible and sustainable environments for recreation, health and wellbeing. We achieve this through community engagement, volunteering, partnership working with East Dunbartonshire Council and other local organisations, and by supporting projects that improve biodiversity, environmental sustainability, active travel routes and public access to outdoor spaces. We also raise awareness of the importance of local green spaces and encourage community participation in their improvement and long-term stewardship.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation?s purposes are: (a) To provide improved outdoor spaces for the residents of Bishopbriggs and Auchinairn through the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the whole community of Bishopbriggs and Auchinairn. (b) The advancement of environmental protection or improvement by the protection and enhancement of greenspaces in Bishopbriggs and Auchinairn. (c) To facilitate the creation and improvement of paths and other travel routes to enable the community to travel safely to access the outdoor spaces throughout Bishopbriggs and Auchinairn and in doing so to advance the health & wellbeing of the whole community.
