02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To design and build a war memorial, with community gardens and a wildlife corridor for the community of Linwood, having researched those who fell in war and conflict and were born, lived or worked in Linwood at the time. To achieve this we have negotiated an in perpetuity lease of land under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act. Works are being procedures to clear the land of fly tipping, litter and overgrowth of ivy to develop the community gardens and improve the biodiversity of the area. Engagement across all local community groups and schools enables learning from our research and activities around the site. Community participation in the design development and fundraising for the project are well established from ages 3 to 94.
