02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Bestway Community Development is a community-led charity established to relieve poverty, reduce social isolation, and advance community development, particularly within African and ethnically diverse communities in North Lanarkshire. We improve wellbeing and promote inclusion through family support, digital inclusion activities, wellbeing and health awareness sessions, community meals, and advice and signposting services. Our work supports New Scots, refugees, carers, and families affected by drug and alcohol misuse, as well as people living with long-term health conditions such as mental health challenges, diabetes, and disability. We provide safe and inclusive spaces where people can access practical support, build confidence, and reduce isolation. We work in partnership with statutory services, health providers, and local organisations to improve access to support and help individuals and families achieve greater independence and resilience.
