02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our primary aim is to promote community cohesion and reduce social isolation by offering a structured programme of engagement through community-based activities. These initiatives are designed to foster a sense of pride, belonging, and social connection. Volunteering plays a key role in our activities, and we ensure that all volunteers receive appropriate support, training, and feedback to encourage personal development and satisfaction in their roles. We offer a variety of social and recreational activities aimed at improving well-being, fostering connections, and enhancing life conditions within the Garthamlock and Craigend areas. These include a walking club for all ages and genders, multi-sport events (football, badminton, fitness classes, yoga), Mental Health Awareness Week, and Fish Tea and Bingo for seniors. In addition, we provide financial workshops on budgeting, credit/debt management, and banking, as well as a Resource Gateway for access to financial advice services
