02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Charity, when officially launched, aims to acquire smaller parcels of land, especially near watercourses, between 10 and 250 acres. These sites provide ideal conditions for the natural return of indigenous animals, birds, plants, and insects. Smaller areas are more affordable and will allow the Charity to secure more locations across the UK, creating a broader, more diverse network of habitats. Once acquired, we will end harmful practices, monitor biodiversity, and follow best rewilding methods. We will collaborate with universities, schools, and wildlife groups to support research and ecological restoration. Education is central to our mission, and we will engage the public through our website, media, events, and site visits to build long-term support for ecosystem recovery and wider environmental awareness. Although it is taking longer than expected, we strongly believe the Charity will be launched in 2026.

Constitutional objectives
Purposes 4.1 The advancement of environmental protection or improvement. Mankind is destroying the natural environment at an unprecedented rate, wiping out countless species and biodiversity in the process. Unless we do something about this, our children will inherit a much-diminished world devoid of many of the spectacular species and habitats that we have had the privilege of enjoying. This destruction must be halted, and nature given help and space to recover. The Blue Planet Rewilding Initiative has been established to ensure it is. Its purpose is to promote for the benefit of the public the restoration of the natural environment, ecosystems, and biological diversity. 4.2 The advancement of education. To educate the public about the damage that mankind has done to the natural environment and biodiversity, and the benefits that will accrue to it from restoring the natural environments and biodiversity we have lost.
