02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Balanced Horizon runs three core projects connecting the land, sea and coasts. We run nature restoration projects on land, creating wildlife corridors through East Lothian. We undertake extensive beach cleaning activities in remote locations all along the Scottish Coast. Our restorative aquaculture hatchery helps introduce the key stone species of native oysters and European lobsters back into the firth of forth at a large scale. All three of our projects are underpinned by extensive community engagement and education activities both in person and online. We are building a community around environmental protection and restoration.
