02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We support house-deprived homeless adults across Scotland, UK, Nigeria and recently Uganda, by creating a safe, relational space where dignity, capability and belonging can be rebuilt. We provide learning programmes, trauma-aware support, advocacy, and practical preparation for moments of crisis. Our initiatives—Futures, Shine Your Eye, BYOH in Nigeria, Touchstone-Live, and the Quiet Rooms—equip people with life skills, legal awareness, confidence and community. We gather stories, publish research, and engage in active global citizenship to challenge systems that create homelessness. Our work is built on the belief that every person deserves a doorway into safety and a future, and that prevention—through education, support and the principle of a Housing Birthright—is the strongest path to ending homelessness.

4 The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 the prevention or relief of poverty for homeless adults and adults at risk of becoming homeless. 4.2 the advancement of education and learning for homeless adults and adults at risk of becoming homeless, applying a capabilities approach- incorporating life skills, soft/hard skills employability training and retraining in marketable new skills. Signposting and Advocacy for entering higher academic education institutions. Research and Publishing of Academic papers on causes of homelessness, safeguarding and remedies. 4.3 the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation for homeless adults and adults at risk of becoming homeless. 4.4 the relief of adults in need by reason of homelessness and adults at risk of becoming homeless. suffering or vulnerable to suffering ill health- both physical and mental, disability, financial hardship, including no access to public funds and other disadvantages that present.
