02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Rays of Hope is a cancer support group based in Elderslie, near Johnstone, Renfrewshire that focuses on providing emotional, practical, and social support for everyone affected by cancer. A highly qualified Well Being and Fitness Co-ordinator delivers classes for all fitness levels. The classes include freestyle fitness, gentle chair exercise, men only movement, Pilates, strength and balance circuits, and functional fitness sessions. A qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist runs group sessions on a monthly basis. One to one chats or therapy sessions are also available in a safe and completely confidential environment. Rays of Hope aims to create a sense of community where people can share their experiences, gain strength from one another, and access resources to help them navigate the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

5 The Charitable Purposes are: 5.1 the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, by: 5.1.1 reducing the symptoms and anxieties of a cancer diagnosis. 5.1.2 providing professional counselling services and a range of complementary therapies and support groups for those affected by a cancer diagnosis. 5.2 To educate and empower people in a positive approach to living with cancer. 5.3 To provide recreational facilities and activities for individuals diagnosed with Cancer, with the objective of improving their conditions of life, general health and wellbeing.
