02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We are set up to provide a centre of Christian worship in the St Mary's housing scheme in NW Dundee where we are the only such provision. We hold weekly Sunday services, regular weekly prayer meetings and occasional other meetings which are open to anyone who wishes to attend. Part of our worship is outreach to the community, both spiritually and practically and to this end we are involved in many community activities. The pastor is part of the Chaplaincy Team at the local primary school, several members help run the Community Cafe, which the church started and hosts, and others are involved with the local Community Centre and its activities or have other local connections. We have a small resource of food for people in emergencies and a Community garden is in our grounds. We let out the premises for appropriate community groups and occasional special events. We also have involvement in several Overseas Christian groups, providing teaching, mentoring and some financial support.

4 The Purposes are the advancement of religion, specifically the Christian faith, primarily in Dundee, and also throughout Scotland and the rest of the world, by all means consistent with: 4.1 The Christian Bible. 4.2 The Declaration of Principle (Appendix Part 1). and 4.3 The Statement of Foundation Values (Appendix Part 2). including, without prejudice to the foregoing generality, worship, ministry, mission, witness, prayer, fellowship, networking, education, community service and the provision of activities and facilities for the community, and the relief of poverty and other social needs, including the support of individuals and other charitable organisations and agencies involved in any or all of these.
