02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Islay Connections is for everyone who lives and works on Islay and aims to : Work in health, mental health, social care and support services and with individuals, informal local groups, third sector charities and the statutory service providers of health, mental health, social care and support services. Collect evidence and opinion of what is needed on Islay and what is currently provided. Bring together those who use Health, Mental Health and Social Services with local voluntary and statutory service providers so that co-operative planning and provision can be led by the needs and wishes of the community. Provide practical support for the establishment of new services and service providers on Islay. Advocate locally and nationally for the cooperative planning and provision of Islay appropriate services

Constitutional objectives
The purposes of Islay Connections SCIO are the advancement of citizenship and community development, and the advancement of health, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons living on the Isle of Islay. Islay Connections SCIO will further the common interests of those living on Islay by : (a)Supporting the establishment, development and maintenance of evidence based, community led, cooperative planning and community centred practice in the provision of healthcare, mental healthcare, social care and support for the population of Islay (b)Ensuring that the ways in which healthcare, mental healthcare, social care and support are delivered to the population of Islay are appropriate for the needs and wishes of the Islay community (c)Providing a factual knowledge base to enable community led, cooperative planning and provision of healthcare, mental healthcare, social care and support for the population of Islay (d)Providing a forum where members of the community, statutory and voluntary healthcare, mental healthcare, social care and support services can meet and talk with each other to plan and evaluate the cooperative delivery of care (e)Supporting the establishment new providers of healthcare, mental healthcare, social care and support where they are necessary to fill deficiencies in provision
