02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The organisation's aims are: (a) The promotion and development of arts and heritage education. (b) The conservation and preservation of our artistic heritage both at home and abroad. (c) The advancement of the arts, culture and heritage. We achieve these aims by: 1. Organising an ongoing series of educational lectures on art, architecture, music and theatre by acknowledged experts in their field. 2. Organising educational visits to, for example, Dumfries House. 3. Allowing refugees, living locally, access to lectures free of charge. 4. Organising longer all day events related to selected lecture topics. 5. Finally we have a volunteer scheme providing conservation work at Drumlanrig Castle. During 2025 we made donations to local arts-related charities of £1523. We have now developed a formal Donations policy and started making more substantial donations, including to the Theatre Royal, Dumfries. We expect to increase our donations considerably over the next 12 months.
