The charity was established to advance charitable purposes relating to the prevention of gambling-related harm, education, and the support of individuals and organisations working to reduce the adverse impacts of gambling.

Constitutional objectives
The SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes primarily by (1) generating donations and grants from a variety of sources, (2), support developing technology solutions by engaging with third parties to help gamblers manage and control their gambling habits and (3) operate as a 'grant giving' charity which will support (through financial distributions to charities, community groups and others) the community through the promotion of a variety of projects that support harm prevention from gambling activities. For the purposes of the 2005 Act, the following charitable purposes are (i) particularly relevant and (ii) are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act:- Advancement of Education The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
