02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Cambuslang Community Sports Hub SCIO is set up to advance community participation in sport, physical activity and wellbeing, with a particular focus on children, young people and families in areas of deprivation. The charity aims to transform the long-disused red ash pitch at Peter Brownlee Park into a modern, inclusive 3G sports and community facility that is affordable and accessible to the local community. We will do this by providing high-quality sports facilities within walking distance of Cambuslang’s most deprived neighbourhoods, offering affordable pitch hire, free and subsidised programmes, and structured activities for young people. The Hub will work in partnership with local clubs, schools and community organisations to deliver coaching, training, volunteering and progression pathways into education, employment and sport. All surplus income will be reinvested to reduce barriers to participation and maximise community benefit.
