02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We aim to: 1. Reduce social isolation in Biggar area 2. Improve mental wellbeing for our community 3. Build a more compassionate, connected and caring community 4. Help members of the local community live their lives well and fully 5. Help local community and individuals become better equipped to help each other through the hard times which can come with death, dying and bereavement 6. Encourage and stimulate opportunities for conversations about death, loss and grief

Constitutional objectives
4 The organisations purposes are: 1. the advancement of health both physical and mental by designing programmes which address specific health needs identified in the Biggar area allowing individuals to live their lives as fully as possible. 2. the advancement of community development and the promotion of civic responsibility within Biggar area through promotion and encouragement of volunteering and an understanding of what it takes to make a compassionate and connected rural community with a healthy and supportive understanding of the universal human experiences of grief and loss 3. the organisation of recreational activities, programmes and services with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended especially the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, rural isolation, bereavement or other disadvantage and through delivering those activities help each participant in the Biggar area live their lives uniquely and fully.
