02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Meeting Centres Scotland exists to build communities around families living with dementia. We support a national network community-based Meeting Centres across Scotland. Meeting Centres are local resources where people living with dementia and their families can get practical, social and emotional support, based on the evidence-based Adjusting to Change Model. We act as the national infrastructure body: we help communities establish new Meeting Centres, provide training, guidance and quality support to those already operating, connect centres so they can learn from one another, and work with government, health and social care partners, researchers and funders to strengthen the evidence base and secure the long-term sustainability of the network. Everything we do is shaped alongside people with lived experience of dementia.
