02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Queenz Sounds is a music charity dedicated to amplifying the voices of women and LGBTQIA+ musicians. Founded in response to the lack of diversity and representation within the music industry, we exist to create safe, inclusive spaces where underrepresented artists can perform, connect, and grow. Through our work, we deliver live music events, festivals, and artist development programmes that prioritise equity, visibility, and community. We provide paid performance opportunities, mentorship, and creative platforms that empower artists to build confidence, develop their careers, and reach new audiences. Since our inception, Queenz Sounds has supported a growing network of emerging and established artists, helping to foster a vibrant, inclusive music community across Scotland. Our events not only showcase talent but also create spaces where audiences feel represented and welcomed.

Constitutional objectives

The association's purposes are: (a) the promotion of equality and diversity. The organisation will produce and promote music events where the participants will be women or part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Although we will be specialising in women and LGBTQIA+ artists, we also want to support other unsupported artists in the industry such as people of colour, people with disabilities and people with mental health issues. The events will target like-minded individuals and they will be a safe space that will give visibility to these minorities and raise awareness regarding the lack of diversity and equality in the industry, educating people on these matters. (b) the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. The organisation will be focused on music and will give voice to emerging artists, giving an opportunity to individuals based on talent rather than resourcefulness or power. (c) the advancement of citizenship or community development. The organisation will promote and produce events across various local communities to unite like-minded individuals and uplift the community by creating artistic safe spaces
