02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Knowetop offers the community a safe space to engage with nature, learn new skills, share in produce grown on site and improve their mental and physical wellbeing through time in a greenspace and engaging with nature. On the 15 acre site we have a community growing space, community orchard, a range of wildlife habitats including woodland, hedges, meadows and a pond, and we’re developing community plots with individual raised beds and in-ground growing spaces. Our free outreach and engagement activities include running a nature-based outdoor afterschool club one day a week. holiday activities for primary school aged children. twice-weekly practical volunteering sessions. weekly well-being in nature sessions. and a variety of public events for families and individuals. We are working to make Knowetop a valued, well-used and safe community space.
