02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Springburn Unity Network SC052977 is a dynamic, community-led organisation at the heart of Springburn, Glasgow. Our mission is simple yet powerful to bring people of all backgrounds together in the spirit of unity, inclusion, and active participation. Since our creation, we have delivered a wide range of initiatives that empower marginalised groups, foster community spirit, and address inequalities affecting local residents. Many individuals from minority ethnic and the local communities face daily barriers such as financial hardship and language difficulties. These challenges limit access to education, employment, and wider community engagement, leaving many with low self-confidence and feelings of exclusion. This often leads to isolation, reduced wellbeing, and limited opportunities to integrate. At SUN, we are committed to breaking down these barriers by creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming opportunities for people to connect, learn, and grow together.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation has the following purposes: To advance education by providing learning and development opportunities in a range of context for adults in accordance with the Lifelong Learning 2003 policy which seeks to promote an enhance lifelong learning opportunities such as our Introduction to Multicultural Language Class to promote the importance of unity through languages. To provide recreational activities such as Community Led Cycling Rides, Various Family Fun Outdoor Events and Games to tackle loneliness and mental health issues. To advance environmental protection through community litter picks and tree planting activities to enhance the spirit of environmental care and community cohesion. To advance citizenship and a cohesive community by embedding transformative approaches, good practice through CLD disciplines and accordance with Community Learning and Development Values such as providing learning and development opportunities for group members, supporting and developing collaborative working, organising and managing resources and finally facilitating and promoting community empowerment.
