02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Glenmidge Burn Project manages an area of land as an environmental project. It is surveying the area and mapping its habitats, researching its condition and also allowing other environmental bodies to conduct research activities on it. It is also active encouraging its membership and the general public to engage in environmental activities by running open days and species counts. It also conducts similar activities outside of the land area it owns but focussed on the catchment of the Glenmidge Burn.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation's purposes are: The advancement of environmental protection and improvement. In furtherance of this charitable purpose the SCIO will: 1. Conduct activities to further public environmental understanding and engagement. 2. Facilitate environmental scientific research projects. 3. Promote environmental awareness especially in children and young people.
