02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
MacColl (Marine and Coastal Conservation Of Loch Linnhe) is a community-led charity dedicated to conserving and enhancing Loch Linnhe's marine, coastal and connected fresh water environment. Our vision is a healthy, bio diverse environment that supports sustainable social and economic activity and is valued and cared for by local communities. Our work combines scientific monitoring with local knowledge, community participation, education and engagement. A central focus is building a comprehensive bio diversity baseline for Loch Linnhe to inform long-term conservation and restoration, protect native species and habitats, and strengthen eco system resilience. By developing local skills, partnerships and a robust evidence base, we enable communities to play an active role in environmental steward ship and help ensure future action is well -informed, targeted and locally supported.

Constitutional objectives
Purposes The organisations purposes are: to advance education and research in the marine and coastal environment of Loch Linnhe through a programme of conservation events and activities for the benefit of the communities of Duror and Kentallen as defined by the Duror and Kentallen Community Council Boundary which can be found here and the wider general public. to provide or organise recreational activities to promote the value of the marine and coastal environment of Loch Linnhe for the benefit of the communities of Duror and Kentallen and the wider general public. to advance the environmental protection and conservation of Loch Linnhe including promoting the sustainable management of its natural resources through educational and recreational activities for the benefit of the general public. The advancement of community development and resilience through the design and delivery of a range of activities, designed to help Duror and Kentallen be a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive community for all who live and work there. Any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to the preceding purposes. Dedicated to preserving and protecting the marine and coastal environment of Loch Linnhe. Our organisation's name reflects our deep connection to the local history and culture. With a vision of community-led conservation, we aim to work closely alongside all stakeholders to develop a sustainable coastal and marine management plan for the area.
