What the charity exists to do

Manage The Flow Country World Heritage Site and deliver peatland restoration across Caithness & Sutherland. Peatland restoration delivered through public and private finance (Peatland ACTION & Peatland Code) through subsidiary company Flow Country Restoration Ltd.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are to promote the protection, conservation, and enhancement, for the benefit of the public, of the area within the Counties of Caithness and Sutherland, known as The Flow Country, on account of its outstanding peatland ecosystems and biodiversity, and in particular (but without limitation) to undertake the following: (a) the advancement of environmental protection or improvement, by promotion and implementation of sustainable land management that maintains and enhances the habitats and species, and (but not limited to) carrying out and supporting the objectives set out in the Management Strategy for the Peatlands of Caithness and Sutherland. (b) the advancement of education, by education of the public in respect of the area's significance and values, including its special wildlife, carbon store, landscape character, water environment, historical and cultural values, and through promotion of the value of the area as an exemplar and inspiration for others working on peatland management and restoration. (c) the advancement of citizenship or community development, within the area and its communities by promotion of sustainable development of communities and the economy, based on The Flow Country's outstanding natural values.
