02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity has been set up to protect and bring back into community use the Former Lyceum Cinema, recognising its importance as a historic, cultural and architectural landmark. Our aim is to secure the building for the long-term benefit of the local community and to support positive social, cultural and physical regeneration of the area. We work towards this by engaging with local residents, building community support, and developing plans that reflect local needs and aspirations. A key part of our approach is ensuring that the community has a meaningful voice in the future of the building, including through the use of community ownership powers. By doing this, we aim to create a sustainable community asset that can be used for cultural, social and recreational activities for the benefit of the whole community.
