02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity operates as the community of Life Church Edinburgh. Building on existing activity, in collaboration with key partners it is developing support to fulfil its charitable purposes. • Community Meals - Weekly meals support local people dealing with the challenges of homelessness, poverty or loneliness. We aim to develop this throughout the week by providing more meals, and additional support services related to health, social welfare, finance, faith etc. • Student Support - Situated in a densely populated student area the charity provides a wide range of support as they journey through a major transition in their lives. Life Community Edinburgh is already piloting how it can best support these young people by developing support for them along the lines of the community meals. • Elderly Café - We aim to create a safe space for local older people to socialise and receive support.
