02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Deeside Thistle Cycling Club is dedicated to making cycling safe and accessible to all, whether they intend to compete or simply enjoy a social café ride at the weekend. We provide coaching sessions for road, mountain bike, track and cyclocross, with certified coaches providing high quality coaching in their own time. The club pays for premises and for coach development. Recent initiatives to reach out to less well represented groups include a 'She Rides' group, aimed at older lady riders. The weekly Evening League time trial series provides opportunities for anyone interested in competition to come along and try a short time trial with appropriate timekeepers, marshals & first aid support. The Evening League series now features a trophy for fastest novice lady. The club organises and staffs numerous competitive events in all the disciplines mentioned above and we have a number of alumni that race internationally.
